information for transformational people

Year here 246Year Here

This may appeal to someone you know.

Year Here is a postgraduate course for people who want to learn from, and design with, those hit hardest by inequality. A year to test and build solutions to some of society's toughest problems.

They are looking people who are driven to tackle society's toughest problems. In the first few months of the programme, they'll be placed in a frontline organisation e.g. care homes, hostels, youth services in London and challenged to lead an innovation project. Next they'll play the role of consultant on a social innovation brief set by a real client. Finally, they’ll develop a social venture idea from scratch – prototyping it in the real world and pitching it to fellow entrepreneurs.

Throughout, they'll be focused one of society's most complex issues – the housing crisis, educational inequality, community resilience, vulnerable youth, or health and wellness.

The organisers will give them a crash course in social innovation – from design thinking to social investment – through their five week-long bootcamps, run in partnership with leading innovation players and our venture lab that will take you through the building blocks of a social business. Across the whole programme, they will have regular coaching and mentoring sessions, and access to plenty of networking events.

Launched in 2013, they've seen 80,000 hours contributed in frontline services working with the most vulnerable people and 23 new social ventures.

Year Here is a melting pot - mixing different skills such as designers and artists with economists and consultants, all working on problems that matter. Bringing together these different perspectives and approaches to solving problems is a powerful way of coming up with genuinely inventive solutions.
